Piedmont Hiking and Outing Club Announcements
Any member who would like to give information about pickup outings can do so by e-mailing the Broadcast Coordinator. The e-mail will then be broadcast to the club members. This information and other announcements of a more general nature can also be posted and discussed on the club Forum.
In deciding whether to request broadcast of an announcement of a pickup hike, please remember that a hike on any given day is appropriate if another hike is not already offered on that day (either in the Trailmarker or via a previous pickup broadcast) that has the same combination of the following characteristics: (1) within the same range of R rating, (2) within the same range of driving distance, and (3) on the same type of terrain--for example, the number of required stream-crossings, the trail condition, and open or shady environment.
Please keep your e-mail address on file with PHOC updated. We don't send many messages, but it is a helpful method to inform members of urgent outing changes or other information. We never distribute member e-mail addresses and use a blind copy method, so even other club members do not see your e-mail address.
